FOUNDER OF HOSPITALITY TALK
Born into a family of restaurateurs, Nicholas waited tables and worked in his father’s kitchens in his teens. His colourful professional life began as a corporate recovery accountant in the City of London, working for Ernst & Young, KPMG and Grant Thornton, having been head-hunted from one to the other. This was followed by a decade immersed in the British capital’s nightclub scene, where Nicholas staged his hugely popular Coco Latté clubnights. Routinely attended by fashion designers, pop stars and celebrities, Coco Latté clubbing events frequently popped-up in Amsterdam, Ibiza, Cape Town and beyond. Some 10 years after the brand was first born, Nicholas co-designed and launched swish new London nightspot Coco Latté SW7 in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
Nicholas’ maiden hotel project was conceptualising and managing the two-day grand opening event for the first ever W Hotel in Asia Pacific, which premiered in 2004. Since then, he has worked with numerous GMs, DSMs, Marketing Directors and F&B executives to increase their hotels’ profitability, introduce new income streams, create innovative food and beverage concepts and craft new restaurants out of tired and outdated outlets.
Having contributed many articles over the years to Condé Nast Traveller UK, Time Out Dubai, Condé Nast Traveller Middle East and several other magazines, in 2014 Nicholas founded and launched his own publication, The Cultured Traveller. A luxury travel and lifestyle magazine aimed at discerning and seasoned globetrotters, today The Cultured Traveller is published in print and online and hard copies are distributed across Europe. Regular advertisers in The Cultured Traveller include Raffles and Luxury Collection destinations featured on the magazine’s pages have ranged from Kathmandu to Salvador de Bahia, and the many luminaries interviewed for the magazine include Andrea Bocelli, Dame Zandra Rhodes and Michel Roux Jr.
